After several months of being a sorceror's apprentice, he finds himself being tested with one of his master's newest rune spells. The moment it was carved into his neck, he began to feel funny, and his master then attacked him. Now he seeks refuge in the woods as he grows smaller, his only form of clothing now a ragged robe of the man he was once was. The other forest animals look curiosly at the new comer, the vixen approaching with an interest in her eyes. He may not be able to change back, but perhaps he can cope with it eventually.

Why did the sorceror do such a cruel thing to his own apprentice?

Regardless of why he did it, why would he then attack him? Wouldn't he know what would happen and if he didn't, why bother attacking? A fox isn't a threat especially one that was your apprentice

poor aprentice *pats head, pulls out rocket launcher and hunts down scorceror*

Of course, there's always the possibility that the sorcerer chasing the apprentice out into the wilderness was part of the test. Seeing how he gets by in the wild with that rune.

The story is confusing, and the vixen looks a little lupine, but the detail is amazing.

Haha! I came up with the story around 3 in the morning where I was half alive. XD I blame lack of cognitive though. lol!

Either the student disobeyed the master, al-ah Fantasia's Micky Mouse Magician scene..or its a test to see if he can figure hit way out of such a complicated matter dealing with the temptations abound...like the little vixie reeling to pounce. ;P

Well, Steve (can I call ya Steve? n.n), if you like this sort of thing, you might look into the story of Arthur and Gorlagon. Found it once in a collection of Arthurian legends. It might go by other names, but it's surely similar. :)

Ah, I saw that story just a little while ago, Soty! Thank you very much for it! As for all of your comments....I'd have to say in my own opinion, if it was really a punishment, the sorceror would've changed him into something much worse. Like a worm and then dip him into a mug of beer or a fish and watch him flop around and suffocate to death. I mean...I would. An experienced Sorceror would be more creative about a polymorph spell serving as a punishment, don't you think?
