Just a small update from me for those folks who don't browse FA much... That, and the resolution on the image here is better than in FA to better show small details, since the site's image zoom system seems to work much better than FA's.
This woman is going through a "Spontaneous Environment Adaptation"... or SEA for short;)
She is transforming into a custom creature (Like a Sergal) by the name of a Luminari... An anthropomorphic, aquatic creature, with Rubbery, cetacean like skin that ranges in color from blue-grey or cream-grey, to aqua or teal. It sports a somewhat canine-like muzzle, and has three-pronged, webbed "Ear Fins". It has hybrid pawhands and feet with long, yet well formed (just under "thick") digits... three webbed toes on it's pawfeet, and three webbed fingers and thumb on the pawhands, and short, rounded claws on each digit. To aid with aquatic navigation, it sports a long, powerfully developed tail, sporting a tailfluke like a dolphin, as well as strong, three-digit, webbed "fins" on the legs and arms, which aid in direction manipulation.
A luminari can also be any size between human sized, to up to approximately 15 feet in height (If I am remembering the measurements correctly). Indeed, part of the background location is to offer subtle hints that she is surging in overall mass and size, as well as transforming.
The rather unbalanced pose is a combination of her twisting in shock, *While* her body transforms in forceful surges, *And* growing in powerful spurts, in an asymmetrical manner. If it isn't obvious, her right leg and left arm are quite larger than their counterparts, her rear/pelvis and chest/back/torso throbbing in an asymmetrical manner, trying to keep up with the growth of the limbs, and support them properly.
In fact, if it weren't for the fact that she is mostly submerged in that pool (which is quickly heating up and becoming steamy due to the heat her rapidly transforming body is giving off; due to rapid energy-mass conversion)... She would likely have fallen over and been writhing and convulsing wherever her body would take her on the floor. As is, the water is keeping her buoyant and capable of standing (technically). Here she is kicking up and forward as her right leg and new tail just did a new surge in growth, pushing down hard on the pool floor, and her upper body being pulled back by the opposing force, with wild shifting in balance caused by growth, physical changes, and changes in center of gravity as more of her is pushed up and out of the buoyancy-inducing pool.
So yeah, if her pose seems a little over the top, it was done with some thought in mind;) (whew... a mouthful... I think I jumbled that description beyond repair, but I hope it explains the scenareo, even if it doesn't read attractively)
...*shrugs* if I were blackrat, or ranzab, I could probably indicate the chaotic surge in mass better. If I can channel Gryf at all, I *Might* be able to make it obvious that the pool is steaming, but I'll settle for making the lighting correct above and under the water when I color this.
And yeah, Its going to be frozen at this stage until I can repair/replace my tablet *pouts* you might notice some dirty lines on the feet and tail... right where the tablet quit on me... and of course the still-penciled background. Still, I thought it looked nice enough to share. I hope enjoy her plight ;)... she's enjoying it too, she just doesn't know it yet... too much worrying about becoming a big, fishy freak, and possibly drowning if she is fully submerged (That won't happen at this point... too fishy/dolphin-ey to drown in shallow water)), to consider the fact that she's getting surges of pleasure with every pulsing change and growth spurt... not to mention that she'll be able to stomp any professional swimmer or scuba diver quite soon at swimming... and literally stomp them if she chooses, with her new size.;D

Looks a bit like Ranzab's work.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? In other words... do I incorporate elements in naturally, or do I just resemble a copycat?
And I am guessing you are referring to her facial structure: one thing I liked about ranzabs artwork was the facial structure on the females: namely, the use of under-represented feminine qualities: you hardly see the use of strongly developed cheekbones, or the thicker, "pouty" lips (though the lips are more often represented than the cheekbones).
... though frankly, ranzab's newer stuff incorporates far more realism (and anatomical subtleties) than I can do at the moment... but I'll keep working on it... while hopefully having my "own" style.

Hope your tablet problems get resolved soon! ...I'd like to have said that for selfless reasons, but yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing this done. Expression and pose are great!
Though wouldn't being submerged in boiling water be a bit painful for the poor girl?

Hotwire77: Excellent point sir;) As a general rule, I believe that if one's body is capable of such an extremely rapid biological change, that manipulation of sensation would be a relatively simple thing to tweak: given the right mix of hormones and forced neurological stimuli, pain could be numbed, or turned into a tingling or electrical sensation, or even be ticklish. Hell, she might swear she could smell fresh raisin bread baking as her nose shifted into a muzzle. It all depends on certain bizarre subtleties that can't be effectively depicted via visual artwork;)... Until we have documented examples of someone telling others what they feel like as they transform, its totally up in the air: The closest thing we could do, is perhaps find a way to ask a tadpole what it feels like as it becomes a frog, or ask a caterpillar to explain its sensations as it turns into a butterfly... and even those changes are a bit too slow and un-dynamic in comparison.
SeaCigar
Hotwire77: But just so I don't seem to be offering a cop out answer, my guess would be that transformation would be painful based on the only analog I have, the classic "Growing pains". I choose to have a more optimistic view however; why fantasize about going through pain? (Unless you are hardwired with the thought that nothing worth going through is pleasant, or that change is always painful, in which case... there are always exceptions;) )
... Oh, and the water is not heating to boiling... just steaming... sort of like... having a hot bath that is *just* cool enough to be oh-so-comfy, rather than painful. And besides... If I remember correctly, someone who has an extremely high temperature actually tends to feel like they are freezing... though again, backpedaling, I choose to believe that whatever is causing this shift is elegant enough to keep her from being terribly uncomfortable... Tis just unjustified optimism from a hopeless dreamer I imagine *shrugs*
SeaCigar
On that final note, I might have gotten it utterly backward... mass to energy would create heat, while energy to mass... endothermic... would actually cause a cooling/freezing reaction.... *laughs and shrugs* if nothing else, one thing is for certain... I put alot of thought into my smut.

Whoa, now that's dedication. Well, finding yourself in an impromptu hot tub would probably be a better experience than being suddenly encased in a block of ice. :p

only fault i see thru your thinking is you mentioned a dolphin tail . it looks as if its going to a shark tail ie upright vice flat , sharks swim side to side like most fish. where as dolphin swim up and down like most mammals that are adapted for sea life , other then seals and otters. Overall the pic is good.. can see the steam, and like the ideas that change doesn't have to be painful but can use pleasure to mask pain or even addict to the change or new form.
SeaCigar
Breew: Glad you like it! In regards to her tail: I guess it isn't readily apparent, But her tail flukes are going to be horizontal to her body. Right now, her tail is actually twisting a bit to the side due to the transformative convulsions... that upper looking fin is her left fluke twisting to stick "up in the air". The nub on the bottom is actually her right fluke, which hasn't quite grown in yet (much like how her arms and legs are asymmetrically growing).
I don't know precicely how flexible dolphins are, but given the overall length and thickness of the tail, with plenty of new vertebrae, I believe it is feasible that the tail can twist to this extent. (not only that, but once the transformation is complete, the tail is ridiculously long... like about 2 or 3 times longer than it is right now: Heh, tis the desire of the commissioner, after all)
