Deer
Magic
Owl
Punishment

Transformation of Actaeon based from Ovid's metamorphasis. The deer is Actaeon and the owl is Artemis after she has fully turned herself into an owl. If you would like to see more, go to my DeviantArt website

This is nice! I love how the light turned out. Speaking as a self-admitted Greek mythology nut, what made you decide to go with Artemis as an owl?

Shadey

This is really cool but I pictured awesomeface in place of the bird

ShadowOwl

Ooh. That's really cool, and well done. Owls pwn.

Yea, About the owl, I kinda was intending to turn Artemis into her sign, kinda like how in brother bear, Sidka was an eagle. But when I had finished her design, I remembered! THE EAGLE IS ATHENA'S SIGN! I just said oh well, and let it go, after all, in the old myths, gods turn themselves into ANYTHING they want whenever. They don't have to become their signs :).

righteouswolf

Sorry the owl was a dissapointment of the face

Shadey

I don't think it was a dissappointment on the face, it looks cool. :)

Silvermage

Gods and Goddesses did use bird forms alot in Greek Mythology. Artemis has got to be my favorite out of all of them.

o/~ Zot into hart, and you're to blame... o/~

Proxer

You silly booshkin, Elks do now have wolf heads. However... if they did, that animal would probably be super-dangerous!

Proxer

By 'elk' I mean 'stag', and by 'now' I mean 'not'.

jacob317

the deer thing kinda looks like a wolf

righteouswolf

sorry, Actaeon was at an odd angle, and this was my first time drawing deer

NixieToon

Poor Actaeon. The owl ought to be lathering him with a bit of HP sauce just about then. Those goddesses could be pretty mean.

Gandalfnho

righteouswolf, Athena's animal simbol is really a owl, Zeus, her father, has eagles

righteouswolf

Yea, I know that. I kinda screwed up on doing that right. Sorry.

SeaCigar

ultimately, no worries on any mistakes:) It looks pretty solid anyway. Run with what you learned, and make something that much more awesome in the future;D

Actaeon must be lucky guy!

I normally don't comment but dislike inaccuracy. Artemis was the patron of three animals. The wolf (hunter) the deer (the hunted) and the owl (the nocturnal hunter). Any of these, just like with her Roman counterpart Dianne, could be used as she was the goddess of the moon (nocturnal) and hunting. Athena was originally goddess of war/tactics and later wisdom her animal is not the owl but the falcon.
